Suddenly there she stood
in the doorway, framed
in light, as an angel, and
my breath caught as
I turned to look away but
my eyes were fixed, like
those of a figurehead
Over and over I am haunted by
these feelings tumultuous as
the Bering Sea, and
my heart and soul are the ship and crew
quickly sinking.
Where I'd never before felt
the suddenness of this sandbar,
I am trapped, crashed
cast into shallower waters where
it becomes difficult to hide
(from myself)
There is a lighthouse somewhere
the direction of it is Truth, but
I seem lost,
not knowing what the Truth is,
afraid
of following my instinct.
So I smile as she comes and goes
as I try to hide
the view of the stormy, tortured sea
that lies within my eyes.
in the doorway, framed
in light, as an angel, and
my breath caught as
I turned to look away but
my eyes were fixed, like
those of a figurehead
Over and over I am haunted by
these feelings tumultuous as
the Bering Sea, and
my heart and soul are the ship and crew
quickly sinking.
Where I'd never before felt
the suddenness of this sandbar,
I am trapped, crashed
cast into shallower waters where
it becomes difficult to hide
(from myself)
There is a lighthouse somewhere
the direction of it is Truth, but
I seem lost,
not knowing what the Truth is,
afraid
of following my instinct.
So I smile as she comes and goes
as I try to hide
the view of the stormy, tortured sea
that lies within my eyes.

wow. a perfect description of those emotions.... I don't know how to call it (it's late, my brain's already very lazy... plus the heat ^^'), but I can absolutely relate to them. and I can't think of a better way to describe them. just GREAT!
